The ministry exists to help people take a real next step with Jesus—whether they have just trusted Christ, are rebuilding their daily walk with God, are leading others, or want to study Scripture more deeply.
Outdoor Crusade began around faith, family, and the outdoors. Over time, the mission became more focused: create practical Christian resources that help people open the Bible, understand what it teaches, pray, obey, grow in the local church, serve others, and continue walking with Christ.
Today that mission is expressed through a growing family of free discipleship apps, Bible-study resources, group tools, and the Outdoor Crusade Journal.
Why Outdoor Crusade exists.
Outdoor Crusade was founded by Jody Blackwelder from Mocksville, North Carolina. The ministry grew from a personal recognition that lasting change could not be built on motivation, willpower, or another temporary plan.
There were seasons when life felt physically, mentally, and spiritually heavy. The need was not simply to try harder. It was to return to God’s Word, pray honestly, change patterns of thinking, step away from constant distraction, and begin taking practical faithful steps.
Lasting change could not begin with another temporary plan. It had to begin by returning to God’s Word and taking one faithful step at a time.
The 40 Day Reset Journey grew from that experience. But the ministry did not stop there. As new needs became clear, Outdoor Crusade began developing resources for new Christians, group leaders, deeper Bible study, and longer-form teaching through the Journal.
Outdoor Crusade does not promise that every person will have the same experience or outcome. The ministry offers biblical tools and invites people to seek God, listen to His Word, become part of a faithful local church, and take their own next faithful step.

Outdoor Crusade is a discipleship ministry, not a replacement for biblical preaching, worship, pastoral care, Christian fellowship, baptism, the Lord’s Supper, service, evangelism, or accountable participation in a faithful local church.
- Scripture: God’s inspired and trustworthy Word is the final authority for faith and life.
- Jesus Christ: Salvation is God’s gift of grace through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ—not religious performance.

In resources such as the 40 Day Reset, Outdoor Crusade may draw on established research about attention, habits, stress, movement, rest, behavior change, and time in nature. That research helps explain why certain practical actions may be useful.
It is never presented as the source of spiritual power. Outdoor time, exercise, rest, reflection, and healthier habits are tools of stewardship—not substitutes for God, the Gospel, Scripture, prayer, church, medical care, counseling, or qualified professional help.
We do not promise transformation. We faithfully point people to the One who transforms.
